Can we ignore to check DBCS (double-byte character set) ?

Hi Eric:

I am using the VS Spell Checker. I like it. I come from China.
I have a suggestion: can we ignore to check DBCS (double-byte character set) , like Chinese?

I suppose that this tool is using English dictionary to check spell, so it gives many error suggestions when it is checking Chinese.
I think there are two ways to resolve:
  • The first idea is ignore to check DBCS. I recommend it.
  • Or: Including Chinese dictionary. Maybe this idea needs more resource.

If one is available, you can install a Chinese dictionary. See the Installing Custom Dictionaries help page for more information.

If you can't find an appropriate Open Office dictionary, can you create a work item here and attach an example of code or text that would need the "ignore" option? I'm not familiar at all with Chinese so an example file would help me figure out what I need to do to implement the option. Thanks.

Hi Eric:

Thanks your reply!
  • I cannot found Chinese dict from OpenOffice extensions. :( I am trying to find them by google now.
  • I pasted some codes below. It includes many Chinese chars in the comments and like this: Logger.Info("测试用例运行结束。"); Also, the new work item is here: 34845
        public void CodedUITestMethod1()
            var url = "";
            var webDriver = new FirefoxDriver();

        #region 附加测试特性

        // 编写测试时,可以使用以下附加特性:

        ////运行每项测试之前使用 TestInitialize 运行代码
        public void MyTestInitialize()
            // 若要为此测试生成代码,请从快捷菜单中选择“为编码的 UI 测试生成代码”,然后选择菜单项之一。

        ////运行每项测试之后使用 TestCleanup 运行代码
        public void MyTestCleanup()
            // 若要为此测试生成代码,请从快捷菜单中选择“为编码的 UI 测试生成代码”,然后选择菜单项之一。
